Bayer plans to sell its consumer brands, including Dr. Scholl’s and Coppertone, as the German company seeks to focus on higher-margin pharmaceuticals. Bayer in November also announced plans to cut 12,000 jobs and sell its animal-health business to regain investor trust, The Wall Street Journal reported. Bayer’s over-the-counter sales have fallen in the past few years as consumer health products face greater competition from Amazon and private-label brands at drugstores, Bloomberg reported. Bayer acquired Merck’s consumer health brands in 2014.

Philips Hue also extended its product line to include flood lights, more wall-mounted lights and lanterns and a motion sensor, the Verge reported. The Hue Outdoor sensor, which can detect motion up to 39 feet away, will sell for $50 starting next month. Philips also will begin selling its new outdoor lighting for prices ranging from $110 to $150 next month.
